In 1989 werd Jongerenorganisatie "DE MIX" opgericht en in 1990 organiseerden zij de eerste editie van INDORPPOP in de Sporthal van Zuidwolde. 800 bezoekers zagen o.a. De Dijk. In 1991 kwamen 600 bezoekers naar INDORPPOP voor o.a. Angela & The Rude, Bob Color.
De sfeer die bij 'n festival zo belangrijk is kwam niet tot z'n recht in de Sporthal. Zodoende werd bij de gemeente een aanvraag ingediend om een openlucht-festival te houden op Sportpark "Woltingeslag".
In 1993 werd INDORPPOP dus een openlucht-festival met 2 podia, festivalkraampjes, 1000 bezoekers en de sfeer was compleet. Vanaf 1998 wordt INDORPPOP georganiseerd door Stichting Indorppop.
Bands die hebben opgetreden zijn o.a.: Osdorp Posse, Van Dik Hout, Skik, The Gathering, Heideroosjes, Raggende Manne, Tröckener Kecks, Hallo Venray, The Scene, Altar, Birgit, Kane, Krezip, Dilana Smith, Brainpower, Racoon, e.v.a.
